Volunteer Spotlight: Stephanie and Josh Earhart
From Document Shredding and Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree recycling to Adopt-a-Tree and Rivers Alive, Stephanie and Josh Earhart have been Keep Smyrna Beautiful mainstays for the last eight years.
When they’re not picking up litter or spreading the word about KSB at local festivals, Josh conducts environmental impact studies for transportation projects at Edwards-Pitman Environmental, while Stephanie works as a zoo keeper at Zoo Atlanta. They live in the King Springs area with their dog Dingo.
The Earharts first became aware of KSB when they started recycling glass and other materials at the Smyrna Recycling Center. They decided to volunteer because they wanted to get involved in their local community.
“This year, I helped with an invasive plant removal project,” says Stephanie. “I like being outdoors and enjoying nature, so combining community involvement with helping the local environment was a win-win for me.”
Josh’s favorite KSB activity is roadside litter cleanups because he says, “I really dislike seeing litter in our city.”
The Earharts say it makes giving back easy and fun. Also, “It’s a good way to meet like-minded people who also invest in the community.”
A big, big thanks to Josh and Stephanie, who spend so much of their time working to keep Smyrna clean, green, and beautiful! If you’re interested in becoming a KSB volunteer, visit our volunteer page to learn more.
