Storm Drain Marking
What is Storm Drain Marking?
Storm Drain Marking is a fun, hands-on program aimed at reducing and preventing the dumping of litter and other pollutants into our local storm drains. As storm water rushes into these drains, the contaminants remain unfiltered and directly pollute our local water supply. Storm drain marking involves placing eye-catching decals on top of the storm drains to inform the public that dumping into storm drains is not permitted.
How to Get Involved
Individuals: Keep Smyrna Beautiful leads small groups of volunteers in storm drain marking projects once a month at different days and times each month. Marking events usually last for about an hour and a half. Interested volunteers should head to our Volunteer page and fill out our volunteer application.
Groups: Storm Drain Marking is a great group opportunity! Local businesses, churches, high school clubs, and more can sign up to get involved. Volunteers must be at least 8 years old. We provide all training and supplies needed. This opportunity is a one-time event that should last 1 – 3 hours depending on how many storm drains will need to be marked. Dates for this volunteer opportunity are flexible and are dependent upon the volunteer/group availability. To get your groups involved with storm drain marking or for more information, please fill out our group volunteer form.
