Adopt A Mile
Adopt-a-Mile (AAM) is a litter reduction and prevention program. When litter on roadways is washed into waterways with stormwater, it pollutes our local water sources, harms wildlife, and makes our city a less beautiful place to live. That’s where Adopt-a-Mile groups come in. Through organized quarterly cleanups, community volunteers remove thousands of pounds of litter along Smyrna roadways every year. Adopt-a-Mile also raises awareness about the issue of litter and helps keep our community clean.
Additional Details
- Adopt-a-Mile groups clean up their adopted mile of roadway at least four times a year. KSB coordinates quarterly dates, but groups can clean as their schedule allows.
- Groups can be any size. Some groups are made up of a few family members. Others include dozens of company employees.
- This activity is appropriate for civic groups, companies, families, and faith-based groups.
- Ages 12 and up may participate in Adopt-a-Mile. Volunteers under the age of 16 must volunteer alongside a parent, guardian, or other supervising adult.
