Shred Fest

The March 12 Document Shredding event has been postponed to April 9, 2022, due to weather concerns.

In order to reduce the amount of waste generated by Smyrna residents and other community members, Keep Smyrna Beautiful hosts two community document shredding events annually. These events provide a means for safe and secure document shredding and recycling. There is no charge for the event but donations are collected on-site. The document shredding event is open to everyone, you do not have to be a Smyrna resident to participate.

In 2020, over 21,000 pounds of documents were recycled. Since this event began in 2009, an estimated 208,000 pounds of paper has been diverted from the landfill.

Accepted Items

This event is for paper only. Participants can bring up to 5 copy paper sized boxes of documents. All binders, clips, and folders must be removed prior.

Date and Location

  • Saturday, April 9, 2022 (New date! The March 12 event was postponed due to weather.)
  • Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
  • Church Street Park/Aline Wolfe Adult Recreation Center, 884 Church Street, Smyrna, GA 30080

COVID Safety

We are asking that everyone who attends this event stay in their vehicle. Volunteers will collect all documents from vehicles. Any bag/box/bin that hold the documents for shredding will not be returned.

Additional Details on Process

Volunteers will collect your documents and them to large receptacles. When full, the contents of the receptacle will then be dumped into a shredding truck onsite. While all shredding is done onsite, you will not necessarily be able to see your specific documents being shredded, as they will be mixed in with the documents of other people.
