Shred Fest

In order to reduce the amount of waste generated by Smyrna residents and other community members, Keep Smyrna Beautiful hosts two community document shredding events annually. These events provide a means for safe and secure document shredding and recycling. These events are open to everyone, and you do not have to be a Smyrna resident to participate.

In 2021, over 35,000 pounds of documents were recycled. Since this event began in 2009, an estimated 243,000 pounds of paper has been diverted from the landfill.

Donations Accepted

There is no charge for the event but donations are collected on-site. You can donate online before or after the event to help us continue to provide this community resource.

Accepted Items

This event is for paper only. Participants can bring up to 5 copy paper sized boxes of documents. All binders, clips, and folders must be removed prior.

Date and Location

  • Saturday, March 18th, 2023 & Saturday, September 9, 2023
  • Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
  • Church Street Park/Aline Wolfe Adult Recreation Center, 884 Church Street, Smyrna, GA 30080

Additional Details on Process

Attendees of this event are asked to stay in their vehicles for safety and efficiency. Volunteers collect documents from each vehicle and put them to large receptacles. When full, the contents of the receptacle are dumped into a shredding truck onsite. While all shredding is done onsite, you will not necessarily be able to see your specific documents being shredded, as they will be mixed in with the documents of other people.
